Circulators may inventory items on the fly using the Update INventory checkin modifier while checking in returns, or from the Item Status screen, using the Update Inventory action.
In addition to the dedicated Inventory process outlined in the Item Cataloging book, circulators may also engage in on-the-fly inventory of items as they are returned or otherwise brought to the circulation desk.
During an ongoing inventory process, libraries may wish to apply an inventory date to all items as they are checked in. To do this, circulators should apply the Update Inventory check in modifier to their checkin screen. When selected, scanned barcodes will have the current date/time added as the inventory date while the item is checked in.
Please note that changing the Effective Date will not change the Inventory Date.
This will automatically timestamp the invnetory with the date and time the inventory action was taken.
Note: If a library intends to use an inventory wand in conjunction with their RFID, existing SIP accounts can be utilized for the inventory wand.
